Rock is located on the Camel Estuary with its sailing club and access to the surrounding countryside and the famous Golf Course at St Enodoc Golf Club with its fantastic views over the estuary.
Padstow is on the opposite side of the estuary and easily reached by the water ferry which runs throughout the year, and which is home to Rick Stein's infamous seafood restaurants, alternatively visit Prideux Place or the National Lobster Hatchery, arrange a Padstow Sea Life Safari from the quay. There are a host of shops including, Sea Salt, Crew Clothing, The Padstow Mussell Company and Chough Bakery for excellent pasties.
Wadebridge is about 15 minutes drive away where you can hire bikes for the Camel trail or visit the cinema if the weather turns against you.
Daymer Bay provides a fantastic sandy beach area for children with nearby rockpooling and, when the tide is out, you can walk right round back to Rock. Please note that no lifeguards patrol the beach.
Polzeath is located only about 2 miles away with its fantastic sandy beach with great surfing for young and old alike. Lifeguards patrol the beach during Easter Holidays and daily between May and September with some weekend patrols during April and October, please check RNLI website for exact details. In Polzeath you will also find the famous Ann's Surf Cottage and a number of other local shops and restaurants, some with outstanding views out to sea. You can arrange for surf lessons and hire wetsuits and boards. The Cone Zone sells wonderful coffee and hot chocolate and there is a trampet for the children which runs during peak season.
Port Isaac a picturesque fishing village more recently known as the location for the Doc Martin television series.
Cliff top walks along the South West Coast Path - Rock to Polzeath, Pentire Point, The Rumps, Padstow to Stepper Point
Art and Culture there a number of local galleries as well as the Tate Gallery at St Ives. The St Endellion Music Festival is usually toward the end of July begining of August, please check their site for the exact dates.
